GCS Athletics Philosophy

The purpose of Grace Christian Athletics is to develop character, friendship, loyalty, and cooperation among individuals by utilizing the Biblical principles of work , diligence, unity, and self control.

“Every man’s work shall be made manifest:  for the day shall DEclare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort is.”   I Corinthians 3:13

“Commit thy works unto the Lord and thy thoughts shall be established.”  Proverbs 16:3

“Seest thou a man diligent in his business?  He shall stand before Kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”  Proverbs 22:29

“He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand:  but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.”    Proverbs 10:4

“And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”    Mark 3:25

Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it…”   Psalm 127:1

“He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit  than he that taketh a city.”  Proverbs 16:32

Athletics is one of life’s greatest class rooms. In it, peaks of  victory and valleys of defeat are experienced. Using Biblical principles in athletic activities can help mold spiritual maturity.

Goals and Objectives

Grace Christian School is striving to meet the following objectives through its’ athletic program:

1.  TO HONOR THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
We believe the most important facet of any program of the school is to honor the Lord Jesus Christ in attitudes and actions. (I Corinthians 10:31)

2.  TO BUILD CHRISTIAN CHARACTER
We desire to instill principles for future living in the life of each athlete. (Deuteronomy 6:1-7)

3.  TO DEVELOP A BALANCED WINNING SPIRIT
We desire to exert every honest effort to play well in every game and to accept victory or defeat with a spirit and testimony of honor.  (Ecclesiastes 9:10)

4.  TO BUILD STRENGTH AND COURAGE
The physical pressures of athletics demand that athletes be physically and mentally disciplined. (I Corinthians 6:19-20)

5.  TO SINCERELY ENJOY ATHLETICS
We desire our athletes to enjoy their high school athletic experience and to see the fruits of their hard work and dedication. (Proverbs 3:27)

Grace Christian Athletics endeavors to portray an attitude and testimony that will bring honor to our Lord Jesus Christ and to our school.  It is the goal of all coaches, and athletes to be effective in lifting up Christ for His Glory.
